Day 45 - Fresh Vegetables?

Packaged fruit and vegetables may contain more than you are aware of. According to a Pevention Magazine article baby carrots are rinsed in a chlorine wash. The pre-rinse is supposed to kill salmonella and e-coli bacteria. There have been recalls of foods such as spinach, which in 2009 was found to have traces of salmonella. Make sure you wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly before you cut them up as the skin may not be clean and will transfer to your cutting board.
